Bobby Ray, “Fire,” Burnett of Cherokee, passed away on July 25, 2020, at the age of 66. He was born on August 01, 1953 in Mason, Tx, to Arch and Pauline Nicholas Burnett. He was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Mason High School in 1971 and attended Angelo State University where he received a Bachelor of Business degree and later earned a teaching certification in secondary social studies education. Carol Jean Shroyer, age 74, passed away on Friday July 24, 2020, after a difficult two year battle with a Parkinson’s like neurological disease. Jean was born on September 26, 1945, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Juedon and Tex Yuma Middlebrooks. Jean’s father was career Air Force so growing up she lived in many different locations.
Dec. 9, 1934 ~ July 3, 2020 Billy Bryan O‘Banion, age 85, of Valley Mills passed away on July 3, 2020, at his residence surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held on August 1, 2020, at the Valley Mills Church of Christ under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
A memorial service will be held for Robert (Bob) Brandenberger at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at the Gooch Cemetery. Due to the unfortunate times of the COVID virus, the family requests each person wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Royce Charles Johnson of Mason, Texas, was born on June 25, 1935, to the parentage of the late Ralph and Ruby Johnson in Mason, Texas. He answered the Lord's call to come home and passed with peace and grace on June 8, 2020, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ruby Johnson, twin brother Floyd Johnson, and daughter Linda Stone. As a young boy, he was busy and rambunctious, as he often recounted in his stories of adventure and exploration.
08/28/1952 - 06/11/2020 Leonard passed away on June 11th, 2020, in Carson City, Nevada, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Leonard was born in Walnut Ridge. AR, and spent his childhood between there and Heber Springs, AR, where he worked on his family’s peach orchard. If you knew Leo, he didn’t want people to know that he was struggling with such a battle.
Virginia Gail Fenton, 80, of Fredonia, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020, in Fredonia. She was born in Fredonia, Texas, to Jesse Lee and Mildred Mavis (Murrah) Kuykendall on January 2, 1940. She was a lifelong resident of Mason County. She most importantly loved her children and grandchildren. She loved her church family and going to functions.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Ervin Wayne Jordan of Art, Texas on June 15, 2020 at the age of 78. E. Wayne, as his friends and family knew him, was born October 8, 1941, to Rev. Ervin Max and Mable Sofia Ericson Jordan in Austin, Texas.
Dugless Carter passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020. He was born September 2, 1933, in Harper, TX, to Tom and Sophie Carter where he was raised and was a star athlete. He served in the U.S. Army 2 years at the end of the Korean war.  He married Leta Fay Daughtrey and lived in Junction, Texas.
Alva Clay Lindsay, the son of John Alva Lindsay and Jessie Gamel Lindsay, was born August 15, 1922, on the Lindsay Ranch in Mason, Texas; and, after living 97 years and 10 months, that is where he died on June 14, 2020.  Clay’s roots ran deep in Texas and Mason County.
