The 8th Grade Lady Eagles put an exclamation point on an already exciting Track season scoring 202 points to runner-up Goldthwaite’s 144 to win the District 29-2A Track Team Championship last Wednesday. Ava Craig earned four gold medals, winning the Long Jump, Triple Jump, 200 Meter Dash and anchoring the winning 4x200 Meter Relay with teammates Kat Johnson, Natalie Hernandez and Bo Crownover.
Chicken Express will sponsor the 5th Annual Basketball Classic Saturday, April 17th at Fredericksburg High School and the LBJHS Eagles’ leading scorer/passer/rebounder has been selected to play.  Blake Jenkins will take the court with outstanding Senior athletes from throughout the Hill Country.   The game’s goal is to raise money to provide scholarships to the Senior players.
The Johnson City Athletic Boosters have made it their mission to help provide funding for meals for the JC Eagles during away games this year. “Through the support of our JC Nation, we have had a tremendous amount of success this year and have paid out $9000 to the JC Athletics to feed our athletes,” JCABC said in a press release. The LBJHS Eagles extended their romp through District 29-2A to 3-0 with a 16-0 walloping of the Junction Eagles last Tuesday in Junction. Freshman McCray Jacobs earned the no-hitter aided by his teammates’ twelve-hit offensive show and errorless defense. Jacobs struck out five and walked one. The Eagles took control in the first inning when Junior Colton Bean took a 1-2 pitch and sent it over the center field fence with two outs and two runners on base.
The Eagle Varsity Baseball team wasted no time getting back into the “swing” of things, rattling pitchers from Mason and San Saba with hits and runs in double digits to open District 29-2A play. With their last contest before meeting Mason on the road last Tuesday, March 23 - a 10-2 pummeling of the Schulenburg Shorthorns on March 13th - Coach Steven Shipley and the Eagles could have come out lukewarm in their district opener.
If first-year Lady Eagle Head Coach Jack Brown was unsure of the resilience of this year’s squad he got his proof on Monday night as they didn’t just bounce back from last Friday’s setback – a 3-9 loss at Center Point – they bounded back with a decisive 17-9 victory over the Harper Lady Longhorns.
LBJ Middle brought home three championship plaques from the Harper Longhorn Relays on Friday. The 7th Grade Lady Eagles scored 187 points, edging runner-up Harper with 186. In the 8th Grade Girls’ Division the Lady Eagles had the Championship secured before the starting gun fired on the 4x400 Meter Relay finishing the night with 231 points to Harper’s 165.
Blanco and Johnson City were well represented on March 13, 2021 at the State BB Gun Competition held in Fredericksburg, Texas.  Fourteen shooters from Blanco County participated in a field of approximately 76 shooters.  The competition included individuals and teams from throughout the State.  This competition consisted of shooting in four positions including prone, standing, sitting and kneeling. Paige Dalland’s 37’9-1/2” heave in the Shot Put at Harper on Thursday marked a career best for the Lady Eagle Senior. She added another Gold Medal with her 105’11” throw in the Discus. Brent Bible completed the Varsity sweep in the Shot Put winning the Boys’ Division with a 48’1/2”.
