By Rachel Lumpee Blanco County Judge Brett Bray called the regular meeting of the Blanco County Commissioners Court to order at 9 a.m. with commissioners: Tommy Weir, Emil Uecker, Chris Liesmann, and Paul Granberg present. The meeting was held through video conferencing platform, Zoom. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved. The estimated June 2020 payroll of $305,383.32 was approved next. A Blanco County man has died of COVID-19. The man, who was in his 60s, died unexpectedly at his home in the Johnson City zip code, according to the Blanco County Office of Emergency Management. It is the first reported death of the disease in the county. All unattended deaths in the county are being screened for COVID-19 by authority of the local health authority.
A camera which contained radioactive material and went missing late last week has been found, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. The department reported Monday morning that the camera, which was lost Friday after the truck it was in was swept away in floodwaters of the Pedernales River, was found intact east of North River Road near Stonewall.
Selah Bamberger Ranch Preserve is pleased to announce the selection of a new executive director to lead the nonprofit into the future. Selah’s board of directors has unanimously selected April Sansom for the position. Sansom will assume her new duties on June 11. Selah Bamberger Ranch Preserve is an internationally recognized 5,500-acre ranch in Blanco County that has been restored to its original habitat.
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Deputy Under Secretary Bette Brand kicked off National Homeownership Month by highlighting USDA’s ongoing role in supporting rural homeownership. President Trump issued a proclamation on May 29 recognizing June as National Homeownership Month. “Rural communities are rising to the challenge put forth by the coronavirus pandemic,” Brand said.
AUSTIN – (June 2, 2020) – The state of Texas is beginning its first-ever regional flood planning process, and the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is looking for nominees to be considered for membership in the 15 planning groups. “In 2019, the Texas Legislature enacted sweeping legislation to create a new regional flood planning process to help protect Texas from one of its recurring and most devasting natural disasters,” said TWDB Executive Administrator Jeff Walker.
AUSTIN — Gov. Greg Abbott on May 26 issued a proclamation giving the green light to more services and activities in a second phase of the state's plan to reopen from mandatory pandemic closures.  The Phase II proclamation allowed water parks to open beginning May 29 on condition that the venues limit occupancy to no more than 25% of normal capacity.
Kyle, TX — State Rep. Erin Zwiener issued the following statement regarding the death of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man living in Minneapolis who was murdered by police officers using unnecessary and deadly force in response to a forgery call. The police officers in question have been fired from the Minneapolis Police Department, and one has been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.  “My heart breaks for George Floyd and his family,” said Rep.
JCVFD held a Business Meeting on May 27, 2020. President Ray Bible called the meeting to order at 6 p.m., and a quorum was established. April Financials and Service Report Bible presented the Financials for April which included a draw request of $4,984.83. Included in the draw request was $1,500 for training purposes for three volunteers who are taking the EMS class.

With COVID-19 Pandemic effecting everyday life, and unemployment being at an all time high, Farm Bureau understands families are facing challenging times.
