New Superintendent, Richard Kolek hopes to make Johnson City ISD a District of Innovation, a title which would allow the district to be exempt from certain restrictions and open Johnson City Schools up to different opportunities. Kolek presented the proposal to the school board and community members on Monday, July 17.

About a year ago Blanco County agreed to sell the old Annex at North Ave. F and Pecan St. to the Burkhards and they have been working to create office and retail space. The work has been steady and spaces are rented as they become available.
The first space was rented by M Style Salon owned by Morgan Moreland Weeks.
Blanco County crews worked overnight Tuesday and through Wednesday to oversee cleanup operations and extinguish hot spots of a vegetation fire that consumed over 350 acres in rural Blanco County and injured none.

There were two fatalities in a crash that shut down HWY 281 for most of the day, Monday, July 3.
According to a news release from North Blanco County EMS, on Monday, shortly before 11:30 a.m., a southbound DPS trooper spotted a Honda sedan traveling north on HWY 281 and swerving into the oncoming lane of traffic.

Blanco, Dripping Springs, Marble Falls, Llano, Mason and now, Johnson City has joined the list of Hill Country cities that have adopted a lighting ordinance with the intention to reduce light pollution and preserve the view of the stars.
Earlier this month, The City Council passed the ordinance which would limit the type and direction of lighting residents and business owners can utilize in town.

Last week the Commissioners held a special meeting to move forward with repaving the parking areas around the courthouse.
