The North Blanco County Emergency Services District (ESD-1) held a Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. on December 14, 2020 via zoom. Vice President Brandt Raeburn presided over the meeting in the absence of President David O’Bannon. Those attending were: Secretary-Treasurer Kay Odiorne; Vice President Brandt Raeburn, Commissioner Kirk McElhinney, and Commissioner AJ Gallerano.

Public Hearing and School First Report
JCISD Board President Shelly Wenmohs called the public hearing to order at 6:01 p.m. on December 14, 2020. During the public hearing JCISD Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Scott Berry gave an overview of School FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas), and provided the Trustees with an overview of the School FIRST indicators.
Scott Berry also presented the scores for each indicator under School FIRST.
WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA is a service provided by the Daughters of the American Revolution where wreaths are placed on the graves of veterans. The protocol is to lay the wreath quietly and say the name of the veteran reverently. Families of all ages participated in this moving tribute at the Johnson City Masonic Cemetery last Saturday as they laid wreaths on the 120 graves of those who fought for our freedoms.
COVID-19 has changed a lot of things in life, but one thing that definitely hasn’t changed is that homebound folks in Blanco County still need to eat.
That’s where Meals on Wheels comes in.
“There are people who don’t get meals every day; more than you would think,” said Lainie Parker, Meals on Wheels site coordinator at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco.

Mayor Rhonda Stell called the regular meeting of Johnson City City Council to order at 6 p.m. on December 8 at City Hall. Pastor Steve Sanchez gave the Invocation, and the Pledge was recited. There were no citizens’ comments.
Council adjourned into closed session, and after resuming open session Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)/City Secretary Rick Schroder shared financial updates.

The holidays are a time for giving across families and communities. A pandemic has not stopped Johnson City from organizing collections and donation drives to support those who find themselves in a rough patch this season.
At Lowes, an angel tree has been set up for the residents at LBJ Medical Center nursing home.
There is just one more active case in the county in the last week, moving from 61 to 62 in numbers reported Dec. 9 by the Blanco County Office of Emergency Management. There were 61 active cases on Dec. 4.
The number of active cases in the county have increased by 24 since Nov.
Wreaths Across America Day will be held across the country on Saturday, December 19. The Hill Country Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host a local ceremony at the historic Masonic cemetery at 10 a.m. in Johnson City.
The Wreaths Across America mission to remember, honor, and teach is the foundation behind all the organization’s efforts.
The Blanco County Commissioners Court meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. by Judge Brett Bray. Commissioners Tommy Weir, Emil Uecker, and Paul Granberg were present; Commissioner Chris Liesmann was not in attendance.
Kenneth Welch provided public comments after the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

A fifth COVID-19 death in Blanco County has been reported.
Information released Friday by the Blanco County Office of Emergency Management reported five deaths, with the latest being a female in the 60-69 age range who was from Blanco. She died in late November.
The third and fourth deaths included a delayed report on a woman who was in her 70s and lived in Johnson City.
