For several months, Blanco County officials have been constructing the budget for the upcoming fiscal year that goes into effect on Oct. 1. On Tuesday, Sept. 12, the Commissioners will hold public hearings for the proposed budget and tax rate before voting on the items on Monday, Sept. 18. The overall expenditures for the county is budgeted at $8,152,562.
The Blanco Rodeo Association’s hosted its first Playday and 4D Barrel Race in its 2017 series of events on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the arena at Yett Memorial Park. Events included ring and pole, poles straights and cloverleaf barrel races. “Dozens of riders participated in the event,” said Jenni Johnson, Blanco Rodeo Association board member and event organizer.
The Texas Dept. of Transportation was awarded more than $20 .8 million in federal TIGER* grants to improve transportation services for rural populations in October 2015. The funding will help replace 325 vehicles located throughout the state that are used to transport rural residents.
