James & Esther Dowlearn will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary on June 30, 2018. They married June 30, 1943 at the First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, Texas, prior to James leaving to servie in the Merchant Marines during WWII. James retired from Southwestern Bell and later worked for Bexar County.
Kendall County Women’s Shelter will host its fourth annual Safe Place Clay Shoot Aug. 3, at Joshua Creek Ranch in Boerne. KCWS is currently registering five-person teams and individuals for the event. For the month of June, shooters can save $100 on a team of five, and individuals can save $20 on entry fees.
The group will meet on Tues., July 3 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of the Brune Building at 808 Reuben St. in Fredericksburg. Facilitated by HCM social worker Brook Bodenhamer, the group will continue to meet on the first Tuesday of each month, including Aug. 7 and Sept.
Blanco County Aggie Moms gathered at the RE/MAX Genesis offices on June 8 to draw the prize winners for our scholarship raffle fundraiser. First prize of the Dyna-Glo grill was donated by Arney and Shannon Srackangast, and the winner is Carl Struck, just in time for Father’s Day. Second prize was 3 GameGuard shirts donated by K&C Supply, with Jennifer Baker was selected as the second prize winner.

PEC conducted a Circuit Lab for students as part of the Blanco Library’s Summer Reading Program series Tuesday, June 12, 2018. “The circuit lab allows students to become circuit builders as they learn about and construct series, parallel and switch circuits,” Mike Viesca, PEC Executive Vice President of Public Affairs said.

Celebrate the history of Peyton Colony at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23 here in Blanco, Texas! It is a blessing to be able to live in Peyton Colony. There are two historical markers, one for the church and one for the Peyton Colony School, where Lawrence and his siblings attended. There is actually another historical marker that was designated at the Lime Kiln, which was utilized to build houses here in Blanco.
The Hill Country Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was recognized for its ongoing efforts to honor and support National Flag Day and Week by the Blanco County Commission, which proclaimed the week of June 10-16 as “National Flag Week” in Blanco County. Johnson City Antique Tractor and Engine twelfth annual Tractor Pull will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at the Blanco County Fairgrounds at 619 U.S. Hwy 281 in Johnson City. There will be events for various size and age tractors from 1965 and older. Along with the tractor pull, there will be a Kiddie pull and lawnmower pull. The event is a non-points Texas-style pull with weighted and unweighted rules like those used at Temple & Hamilton.
