Blanco County Emergency Services District No. 2 (BCESD2) met April 26, 2018 with city and county officials and retired ESD No. 2 commissioners to brief them on plans to build a new combined Blanco Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) and Blanco Emergency Medical Services (EMS) station adjacent to the Blanco Police station on the corner of Blanco Avenue and Jones Road. The new $2.5 million station will be 14,700 sq ft., with 6,341 sq.
On the morning of Wednesday, April 25, 2018 the board of directors of the Pedernales Soil and Water Conservation District hosted the 34th Annual Soil Stewardship Breakfast. Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park has been selected to through the Historic Preservation Training Center and a Traditional Trades Apprenticeship Program for an Individual Placement through AmeriCorps. This program is intended for the selected park to recruit and sponsor a youth between the ages of 18-30 years from the local community.

The 2017-2018 officers, President Mia Albrecht, Vice President David Struck and Secretary Sienna Buchenbacher conducted the candle-lighting ceremony and read descriptions of the requirements for NHS membership, including scholarship, service, leadership and character.
Study in Book Released at Annual Picnic
David Langford, a seventh-generation rancher in Kendall County, was one of the photographers selected to capture the essence of the 5,500-acre Bamberger Ranch northwest of Blanco. The book, “Seasons of Selah, The Legacy of the Bamberger Ranch Preserve” is a coffee table photography book published by Texas A&M University. The book makes its debut at the annual Selah!

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Hall of Fame recently announced the induction of Blanco native Leon Coffee. Coffee is one of 10 Class of 2018 inductees. As a PRCA gold card member and National Finals Rodeo (NFR) barrelman, Coffee has enjoyed a long career in ProRodeo as one of only three cowboys to be both a barrelman and a bullfighter, according to the PRCA.
