Thomas “Tommy” Ammon Quick, 85, of Brady, Texas, went peacefully to his Heavenly home on Monday, October 28, 2019, in Brady. Tommy was born in Mount Gainor, Texas, on November 23, 1933, to Oley Quick and Lena Faye Connell. He was a resident of McCulloch County for 60 plus years. Tommy married the love of his life, Wanda McGary, on September 9, 1989, in Brady and they cherished 30 wonderful years together.
Jackie Don Johnson, born July 26, 1944, to Norman Clayton Johnson and Vera Morea Johnson passed away on October 13, 2019. He was married to Dorothy Marie Johnson on December 30, 1967. He is survived by his wife, his daughters Audra Johnson, Debra Norman, her husband Aaron Norman, and Laura Johnson along with grandchildren Zachary Norman, Reagan Norman and Matthew Norman.
Mariellen Pepper Lee, age 93, was born in Lubbock, Texas, November 26, 1925. Her loving parents were John Wilson and Ethel May (Matyear) Pepper. She joined two older brothers, John Jr. and Robert on a family ranch where she learned to ride, rope and play baseball. Mariellen rode a horse to school her first five years and then moved to Sweetwater, Texas.
Lenetta Irine, of Mason, TX, passed away during the early hours of Tuesday, October 1st, 2019. Born in Louisville, KY, to Laura and Shelby Funk, who won the Bronze Medal in WWII. She is survived by her daughter Tanya Bell, of Mason, TX; her youngest son Travis Glahn and his daughter Penelope Lynn Glahn, of Austin, TX; her oldest son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Brenda Glahn of Chatham/Springfield, ILL; her niece Cindy Funk, and nephew Eric Funk, of Louisville, KY. Dolores Jean Shoemaker, 78, of Fort Worth, passed away September 26, 2019. Jean was born January 4, 1941. She graduated from Trimble Tech in 1959. On April 8, 1960, she married Stephen. Jean attended South Hills Baptist Church and spent over 30 years in the banking industry. Survived by her loving husband, Steve; three children, Stephanie "Kalen"
Patricia (Patsy) Louise Waddell Behrens went to her Heavenly home with Jesus on September 26, 2019. She was surrounded by beloved family who prayed her all the way home. Patsy was born to Dan and Lillie Mae (Robertson) Waddell on November 16, 1934, in Mason Texas. Mature beyond her years, she started working at eleven years old in the ticket booth of the Odeon Theater.
Kenneth Lee Adams passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019, in Round Rock, Texas, at the age of 70. He was born on October 26, 1948, to R.L. Adams, Jr. and Nell (Rogers) Adams in Fredericksburg, Texas. Kenneth was a lifetime resident of Llano, Texas and a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Llano and most recently attended Journey Fellowship.
Anyone who cares about the City of Mason’s property taxes should give Commissioner Sue Pledger a pat on the back. In the September 16 City Commission meeting, the agenda contained the proposed city budget as well as the City of Mason’s share of proposed property taxes for the coming year. In the public comments section at the start of the meeting, several citizens spoke of their desire to hold the city’s property taxes flat.
Mark was born to Richard and Mary (Stover) Kensing in Altus, Oklahoma. He was the fourth child born to Dick and Mary. Mark started school at Will Rogers Elementary in Altus, Oklahoma. The following year, the family moved to New Braunfels, Texas. Mark graduated from New Braunfels High in 1983 and then Texas A&M University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Judy Dorene Ratliff left this world for her heavenly resting place, at the age of 72, on August 31, 2019. Judy was born on September 15, 1946, to Nettie Faye and Ernest Duke Polk in Mason Texas. She had one brother, Ted Polk. Judy grew up in Mason Texas and graduated from Mason High School in 1965.
