It doesn’t always have to be on the gridiron, the hardwood or the diamond to be a great sport to watch. The jet skis and skiers sold me, July 6, at the Llano Rock’N Riverfest. “Course and turns are really good,” said Kason “10 going on 11 in August” Woolverton of Florence.

The Llano Lions Club is currently registering Sporting Clays shooters to participate in their inaugural “Sporting Clays for a Cause, Presented by Arrowhead Bank” to be held Saturday, August 17. This event will be the major fundraiser for the club in 2019 and net proceeds from the event will support the club’s scholarship program (“The Cause”). LAMPASAS—The new-look Llano High basketball Jackets will take a doubleheader win into the 2019-2020 season, beating San Saba and Lometa on the final Thursday night of June in the last game of the Central Texas League. “Good way to end the spring schedule,” said Head Coach Chris Armstrong. “We needed those victories:” 42-33 over the Armadillos and 49-28 against the Hornets. The new distance—like in the International game—will be 22 feet, one-and-three-quarter inches. I like following the International rules, so when Duke travels to Italy to meet the Rome Raiders, the home crowd can expect its ...
The UIL, by calling for a vote, and school superintendents, by voting “yes,” helped schools like Llano, several years ago, by declaring that the Jackets cannot play against the Burnets, Liberty Hills and Fredericksburgs in district in football because of the size difference. The range now for Class 4A, Division II, is about 500-780.
Superb. The Jackets have completed—almost assuredly—an unparalleled month of 7-on-7: 11 wins and one loss, 9-0 the final three weeks against Fredericksburg and Mason varsities and one or the other’s JV team. “What I care about most,” said Head Coach Matt Green, “is when our kids step on the field they play to win.
