In alignment with the overall mission of local nonprofit, Highland Lakes Creative Arts made a substantial donation to the Marble Falls High School art department to help supplement art resources within the school.
The art supplies were hand-delivered by Lindsey Reitz Smith, who serves as co-chair of Paint the Town with Erin Hinzmann.

City Council members held a Special meeting on September 14th. Mayor Stell called the Open Session portion of the meeting to order at 6:00 pm, and introduced public commenter Rebecca Weisenbaugh.
Weisenbaugh asked the Council to take immediate action on a complaint filed against the City on Aug. 30 regarding the deteriorating, unsanitary, and hazardous conditions for the residents and property located at 502 North Avenue N.
The Blanco County unemployment rate continues to drop as it once again leads the nine-county Rural Capital Area.
Blanco County’s unemployment rate for August was 3.3 percent, according to figures released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission. The county’s rate has fallen 0.8 percent in the last two months. The unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in June and 3.7 percent in July.
The nine-county region’s August unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, falling from 4.3 percent in July.
The Board of Emergency Services Commissioners of North Blanco County Emergency Services District No. 1 (NBCEMS) held a Public Hearing on September 13th, 2021 for the purpose of adopting the 2021-2022 property tax rate.
NBCEMS President David O’Bannon called the Public Hearing to order at 12:00 pm, and a quorum was established with the following Commissioners present: Vice President Brandt Raeburn, Secretary-Treasurer Kay Odiorne; and Commissioners Kirk McElhinney and A.J.
Johnson City Council members held a Regular meeting on September 7, 2021. Mayor Rhonda Stell called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm, and a quorum was established. Pastor Steve Sanchez gave the Invocation, and everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
During Open Session, citizen Penny Whisenant spoke to the Council about proposed changes at Pecan Street and Avenue N.
The Blanco County Commissioners set the tax rate and adopted a budget at their meeting Tuesday morning.
The commissioners unanimously set the tax rate ate $0.3900 per $100 in valuation. Maintenance and operations was set at $0.3425 and debt services was set at $0.0475.
The tax increase for the coming fiscal year is $970,999, an 11.7 percent increase from the previous fiscal year.
