I consider myself, and all of you reading this feel the same way I am sure, very lucky. We survived one year of this silent but war-like virus. A lot of people were “very good,” and, if they weren’t working, stayed at home the great percentage of the last 365 days.
Spring has sprung, and left any remnants of “SNOWVID” far behind, other than some repair work in places. Sunshine and warmer weather has things blooming, as evidenced in these photos. Mother Nature is now on the side of sunshine and springtime for a while. Get out and enjoy the Texas Hill Country if you can.
Four Llano County Jail employees have either resigned or been fired following an accusation by an inmate at the county jail, according to a county official on Tuesday. “Two people resigned and two people were fired,” said Llano County Sheriff Bill Blackburn on Tuesday. The four people were jailers with the Llano County Sheriff’s Office. “There’s an ongoing investigation,” Blackburn said.
The fire at the Mason County Courthouse last month will add millions of dollars to the price tag of the renovation project that already had been in the works, but the county has formed a 7-person committee that will manage donations and fundraising to help offset the increased cost. “The committee is separate from the county, but is made up of Mason County residents,” said Mason County Judge Jerry Bearden. The Horseshoe Bay City Council Meeting was held as an open meeting following a year of closed meetings due to COVID-19. The meeting was also made available via ZOOM. Following the invocation and pledges, celebrations/recognitions took priority. Fire Chief Brent Batla recognized a group of nine volunteers who gave of their time and talent – and at personal risk, who in conjunction with Llano County and Dr.
Eric Contreras, Crystal Barrington, LP Ladouceur and Trace Morrow (not pictured) were the El Guantelete golf tournament winners. The tournament was spearheaded by Paul Lucas to support the new Escondido Employee Scholarship Fund.

Llano High School junior Aarolyn Kingery was one of the key players of the Regional competition in Mason on March 5. Aarolyn, 16, learned to play tennis growing up in Horseshoe Bay. She is also on the National Honor Roll and is the daughter of HSB Police Officer Tom Kingery.

Aye, it was a fine, blustery day as the Horseshoe Bay Resort MGA’s St. Patrick’s Day 4-Man/2 Best Ball tournament got underway on Ram Rock and Apple Rock golf courses Friday with players sporting their Irish green. But despite the wind, the team of Reagan Lambert, Keith Compton, Butch Willis and Horis Stedman managed to shoot a 16-under net 126 to win Flight 3.
