The County Commissioners held a Regular Meeting on July 10. Blanco County Judge Brett Bray called the meeting to order and all four commissioners were present. Regular Agenda Items The Commissioners approved the minutes of the previous three meetings after a motion and second from Commissioner James Sultemeier and Commissioner Tommy Weir.

On a December night in 1982 Larry Echo Hawk and his wife, Terry, were awakened by the ringing of the telephone. When Larry answered, all he heard was sobbing. Finally, his sister’s struggling voice said, “Tommy is dead.” A 20-year-old drunk driver, speeding at more than 85 mph, recklessly ran a stoplight crashing into the car driven by his youngest brother, Tommy, instantly killing him and his wife, Joan.
At the 100th State Convention of the American Legion of Texas in San Antonio last week, Ted Weeks, a member of Blanco’s American Legion Memorial Highway Post 352, was installed as the Legion’s Third Division Commander. As one of only four division commanders in the state, Weeks oversees the activities of more than 150 American Legion posts in an area that stretches from Houston to Austin and extends into much of Central and South Texas all the way to the border.
Former BHS Football Coach C.D. Kirchner, who served as head coach of the Blanco High School Panthers during the 1966 and 1967 seasons, passed away June 30, 2018. Obituary on page 3. Coach Kirchner was first introduced to parents, players and community members at the BHS Quarterback Club Friday, July 15, 1966, according to the Blanco County News.
