Far Flung Adventure Vacations are a great time to get away, relax, try something new, make new acquaintances, and maybe even run into some old friends while you’re out. Central Texas, Llano in particular, is becoming more of a destination for travelers throughout the United States and many from other countries.
It is hard to believe but it is time to start working on our Mixer Schedule for 2020. They are held on the third Tuesday of every month from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. and are designed to get like-minded business folks together for a time of networking and bonding. Those that host provide snacks, and if they want, adult beverages.
New Board of Directors On Wednesday, June 10 The Llano Lions Club met at Inman’s Kitchen BBQ. The guest speaker was Gilbert Bennett, Llano County’s new Emergency Management Coordinator. Those children you love so much need you more than you know. They may live near, far, or right under your roof. They may be sailing and smiling through life. Or they may be headed for tough times. Every family is different, but one thing is sure: When you reach out with love, joy, and purpose, your grandkids benefit.
The Fredericksburg Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas invites all members of the community to get out of the heat and “Have a Ball!” This is a family event. Bring the children. Enjoy a fun, interactive evening making seed balls with native wildflower and grass seeds. All supplies, including gloves, will be provided.
The LHS Hall of Fame Nomination Committee has begun the process of choosing several individuals, a humanitarian, and a team of the year for 2019. The committee invites you to submit a nomination if you know of a worthy candidate or team for consideration. On Friday we are welcoming two new businesses to Llano and to the Llano Chamber of Commerce. At 5:30 p.m., we will hold a ribbon cutting and open house with Robinson’s Vintage & Custom Woodworks, located at 301 Bessemer Ave., just north of the bridge. They specialize in MCM, art deco, and antiques ranging between the 1920s-1970s era.
The Llano Lions Club is currently registering Sporting Clays shooters to participate in their inaugural “Sporting Clays for a Cause, Presented by Arrowhead Bank” to be held Saturday, August 17. This event will be the major fundraiser for the club in 2019 and net proceeds from the event will support the club’s scholarship program (“The Cause”). The event will be held on the beautiful and historic Inks Ranch, one of the most scenic and historic ranches in Texas.
The Llano City Shelter is in dire need of foster homes for small dogs, and a foster home for a beautiful mama and her three puppies that she gave birth to while at the shelter. Even if you can’t be their forever home, you can save their lives by fostering an animal in need.
Summertime is here, school is out, and many of our residents are needing or wanting a vacation or to simply leave town for a few days. Here are a few crime prevention tips that can assist you in having a great vacation and returning to your safe and secured home.
