“Do you have time for this?” my husband, Peter, asked. Peter almost never questions what I’m doing unless I’m doing something particularly stupid. Yesterday, I had a meeting on Zoom. I figured I could finish my work, take my walk early, then run downtown and get my errands done all in time for my meeting. “Sure!” I assured him.
By Jakki Milford On Saturday evening, the square behind the Blanco Ballroom was the outdoor setting for a rare treat for Blanco residents which was arranged by Blanco Performing Arts. The United States Air Force’s Freedom Brass Quintet performed a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Before the show began, the crowd gathered were chatting and visiting with one another.
Results of the 2021 District 10 4-H Spring Roundup competitions were released recently, with 28 Blanco County 4-H members placing. In the Junior Share-the-Fun Musical/Instrumental category, Liberty Lemanski placed 1st playing Budapesto on cello and Autumn Vitallero placed 2nd playing The First Noel on guitar. In the Intermediate Share-the-Fun Musical/Instrumental category, Willow Lemanski placed 3rd playing Huber’s Concertino on violin.
The Joe Garcia Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Blanco County, was held on June 7 at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco. The winning team was the Delta Four of Austin. The members pictured from left are, Paul Antrim, Drake Robinson, John Antrim and Ryan Watts.

Blanco County Sheriff’s Deputy
The newest Deputy in the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office should have no trouble navigating the roads in and around Blanco and Johnson City while on the job - he has travelled these roads all of his life. Jorge Zagada, a 2015 graduate of LBJ High School, grew up in Johnson City and considers his decision to serve his hometown as a Peace Officer a way to give back to the community that helped raise him.
The American flag is a symbol of freedom, liberty and human rights. It is a symbol of our home and all that we as Americans believe. A symbol for men to rally behind, whether on our shores or foreign shores as they did seventy-five years ago on the shores of Normandy!
