Based on the Broadway favorite and well-known comic strip, “Annie, Jr.” recounts the adventures of a spunky Depression era orphan (Annie) determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage, run by the sinister Miss Hannigan.
In May, Claudia Ubinas-Frias, M.D., medical director of the Hill Country Memorial Wound Healing Center earned designation as a “Certified Wound Specialist Physician” from the American Board of Wound Management.

Children of all ages are invited to Fredericksburg Thurs., June 21, to participate in the World’s Largest Swim Lesson at the Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center (1006 S. State Hwy. 16, Fredericksburg TX).
The lesson is free, and children are required to register to participate. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., and the lesson begins at 1:30 p.m.

The Blanco County Commissioners Court has received an application to
de-annex and cancel Lot 20 in the Los Encinos subdivision. The Court will
consider this request in their regular meeting on Tuesday June 26, 2018, which is held in the County Courthouse in Johnson City, Texas. Any person wishing to protest this cancellation should attend.
Pedernales Electric Cooperatives invites all members to attend its annual meeting on June 23 in Spring Branch. This year’s meeting is being held at Smithson Valley High School, located at 14001 Texas State Highway 46.

After Board President Shelly Wenmohs called the Regular Meeting to order the minutes of the previous meeting and routine reports were approved.
The Johnson City Woman’s Civic Club and the Johnson City Library have had a vibrant relationship since 1942 when the club voted to make the library their permanent club project. The club continues yearly to honor this commitment by raising money through fund raisers and membership.
This year the club was proud to make a $14,500 donation to the library thanks to the support of the community.
Low water crossings were flooded and closed early Monday morning due to an overnight downpour that brought two inches of rain to Round Mountain in just a few hours. Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department took their newest brush truck to aid a motorist who was swept off HWY 962 in Round Mountain.

As of July 1, 2018 Blanco County Recycling will be forced to discontinue taking numbered 3 to 7 plastic containers and all other large plastic items that are illegally dumped at the county Recycle Center.
The reason the center can no longer accept this type plastic is because the market has declined to the point that there is no value for this type of plastic and it will not be recycled.
