The 2017-18 Mason Cowgirl basketball season is less than one week away from tip-off. The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches preseason poll has been released and the Cowgirls are ranked 22nd among Class AA schools. You will be able to meet all the Mason Cowgirl basketball teams on Monday, November 6th at 7:00pm in the high school gym.
In Mason's Friday night victory over Brackettville, the Punchers had 427 total yards to Brackett's 54. The Mason defense has proven itself in game after game to be capable to stopping our opponents' offensive strategies, and the final score of 66-0 reaffirms that the Mason offense is also making all the right decisions. Early in the first quarter, Otto Wofford tossed a pass to Jake Cockerham who carried the ball 18-yards for the first score of the night.
The JV took on the Ballinger Bearcats in a rematch in Ballinger. The Punchers scored two touchdowns thru the air. One came before halftime on a 50 yard bomb from Whitt Bierschwale to Aaron Reardon and the other was on a 20 yard connection from Mathew Kerr to Aaron Reardon. The defense only gave up one touchdown and had 4 turnovers.
Mason County 4H Clover Kids grades K -2nd and Junior Master Gardeners grades 3rd to 5th are selling fresh evergreen holiday decor. A choice of a Noble Fir Wreath, Holiday Centerpiece or Noble Fir Door Swag may be chosen. Prices range from $20 to $25. Orders must be turned in by November 6 and pick up will be the first week of December. These 4H kids spent this past Saturday morning making ornaments which they will offer for sale as well.
4H members are invited to join the food and nutrition project. You may participate by contacting the AgriLife Extension office at 325-347-6459. All project practices will be held on Tuesdays at 4:30 at the Community Building in Fort Mason Park beginning November 7th. Sheree Hardin, Mason County 4H Adult Leader, will lead the project.
7th grade The 7th grade Punchers played hard as they beat Harper 34-6. Allowing only one score, the defense was able to keep the Harper from moving the ball down the field. Scoring for the Punchers were Brody Comey with a touchdown and a two-point conversion, Cason Jacoby with four touchdowns and Faustino Montellano with two-point conversion pass from Ivan Wofford.
There will be Hunters Education Course offered in Llano on Monday, November 20, 2017, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Texas AgriLife Extension Office-Llano County, 1447 East State Hwy. 71-Unit E, Llano, TX 78643. The cost of the course is $15.00 and payment is due the day of course.
The Cowgirls and Punchers competed at the Region IV Cross Country Meet in Corpus Christi on Monday, October 22nd. In the past, District 27 has dominated the girls side of the regional meet. This year proved no different. The top three teams out of our district will once again represent Region IV at the State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock at Old Settlers Park on November 4th.
It’s a “Tale as Old as Time”….. or at least 60 years. A Queen and King, as well as their court, will be chosen to represent their school at the Diamond Anniversary Queen’s Coronation. The ceremony will be held on November 4th, 2017 at 7:30 in the Mason Community Building.
Be our Guest! The fourth grade faculty and students at Mason Elementary would consider it a great pleasure if all of our Mason County veterans would join us for a luncheon on Friday, November 10th at the Mason Elementary Library beginning at 11:00 am. A short program will also follow in the MJH gym at 12:30 pm.
