The Cowgirls represented Mason at the State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock, last Saturday, November 4th. The girls had a fantastic race with three of our runners recording their person best times! The dedication, hard work, sweat, and tears of these girls paid off as they placed fourth in the state!
An organizational meeting to work out details for a 4-H Horse Club will be held Monday, December 4, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. at the Mason Rodeo Arena.
The club is open to children Kindergarten through High School who are interested in learning about and working with horses.
Details about a schedule, meeting times, and activities will be discussed at this first meeting. For more information contact the Mason County Extension Office at 325-347-6459.

With only one district game remaining on their 2017 schedule, the Punchers increased their district record to 3-0, and their overall record to 9-0, defeating the Junction Eagles on Friday night 56-7.
Friday night's game, like many this year, seemed heavily weighted to the first half of the game, with only 14 points scored in the second half of the game.
7th grade
The 7th grade played well as they beat Junction 37-14.
A couple of early big runs by Junction kept them in the game early but the 7th grade defense played lights out as they held them to only 2 scores.
Scoring for the 7th grade Punchers were Isaiah Bishop with 4 touchdowns and a two-point conversion, Ivan Wofford with a touchdown pass and a 2 point conversion pass, Quince Lawler with touchdown reception from I.
Mason County AgriLife Extension and Shannon Worrell
Jarrett Worrell, member of Mason County 4H recently exhibited his Hereford cattle at the American Royal in Kansas City, MO. Jarrett received the Southwest Region Show Heifer of the Year award for 2017, presented by the American Hereford Association. It is an honor bestowed upon Hereford cattle that have accumulated points according to the AHA National Show system. Jarrett also exhibited the Best Six Head Championship.

16-year-old Clint Lane of Mason, won his class at the 2017 National Sporting Clays Association’s (NSCA) National Championship held last week at its World Headquarters in San Antonio, TX. Over 2020 entrants from most of the 50 US States, and 16 Foreign Countries did their best to capture the Association’s most coveted prize.
Third graders at Mason Elementary learned to think and plan about garden space in week three of their Learn, Grow, Eat and Go (LGEG) lesson. The students are gaining knowledge that will help them in planting a vegetable garden. The lesson title was “Don’t Crowd Me In.”
Students participated in “paper towel gardening” with carrot seeds.
