The Many Friends of the Mason County Courthouse
The Fort Mason Golf Association held a fundraising tournament in May for the Mason County Courthouse. A remarkable number of participants came to Mason for the event, and for the auction that followed. The outside sponsorships, and the proceeds from the raffle of the gun donated by Bobby Zesch, proved to be a successful combination. Last Thursday, Rodney Jackson of the Golf Association (GA) met with board members of the Friends of the Courthouse (FC) and Mason County (MC) to present a check for $12,550 to go toward the rebuilding of the structure. Since the destruction of the Mason County Courthouse in February, the work to restore the structure has proceeded at full speed, including the current investigative and design phase. The work to raise the approximate $4 million dollars needed to supplement the funding for the project has also been moving at a rapid clip, thanks to the enthusiasm and passion of the citizens of Mason County, visitors to the area who have a fondness for the beauty of the Mason Square, and the resourcefulness of ...
