The suggestion for this week’s column came from my friend and ranch neighbor, Hal Zesch. The Zesch family is one of the original German families that settled Mason County in the mid-1800s. The Zesches are known throughout the county for their stewardship of their family ranches, which have been protected, managed, enjoyed, and passed down through many generations.
