Texas farmers paying price for Mexico’s water debt
Irrigation water is the lifeblood for Rio Grande Valley farmers and ranchers, and delays in water delivery by Mexico under terms of an international treaty are serious, according to the president of Mason County Farm Bureau. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently urged U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to hold Mexico to its treaty obligations under Article 4 of the Utilization of Waters of the Colorado and Tijuana Rivers and of the Rio Grande (Treaty), signed Feb.
