Mason County Remembers Its Heroes on Memorial Day
On Monday, May 29th, under overcast skies and the blessed shade of the venerable pecan trees on Mason’s Courthouse Square, approximately 100 folks gathered together to honor the memory of America’s military men & women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend this great land. Joaquin Velez, himself a Vietnam War veteran and Commander of The American Legion Fort Mason Post 285, officiated along with Chris Dyer, an Iraqi war veteran and member of VFW Post 8554.
