When Eli Smith served in the US Army back in 2001-2003, he was stationed in South Korea. By his own admission, the posting was far less stressful and trying than what veterans would experience in the years immediately following the 9/11 attacks. Since that time, he's watched friends that he made during his time in service facing increasingly severe challenges.
