Lisa Simpson for Justice of the Peace Precinct 4
Lisa Simpson For Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 —
Wed, February 9, 2022 9:35 AM

Hello, my name is Lisa Simpson, and I am running for Llano County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the public. I have been married to my husband Lawton Simpson for 38 years and we have 5 adult sons and 10 Grandchildren.

I have been employed with the Llano Central Appraisal district for nearly 14 years. I am a licensed RPA (Registered Professional Appraiser). While our office has 6 appraisers, only 3 hold the license of RPA (the Chief Appraiser, the Senior Appraiser, and me). My duties include but are not limited to appraising real property, business personal property, helping taxpayers with questions regarding value, exemptions and other value related paperwork. I also handle ARB hearings and Arbitration, which includes analyzing evidence, preparing evidence, and presenting evidence to the ARB and the Arbitrator. I take great pride in helping the taxpayers in understanding their rights and the laws we must follow in the property tax code.

I am a member of the Highland Lakes Republican Women, Llano County Republican Party, and I am working on becoming a member of the Llano Tea Party. I am licensed to perform marriage ceremonies, and I have officiated funerals. I can step up and perform duties for family, friends and the community. I have coached flag football, Little League, and helped with field maintenance on the fields.

I do maintain a full-time job, but I have been able to take some time to visit with all 4 of Justice of the Peace of each precinct to get different perspectives of the office. I have attended a couple of the J.P. 4 Courts, as well as several Commissioner Courts. I had the opportunity to observe on J.P. magistrate at the jail. A couple of the current J.P.’s gave me the website that they all use as a tool to perform their duties. I have printed out the criminal, civil, magistrate, eviction, and inquest sections and have been studying these for several months, to be able to make the transition into the office a smooth one. I am a strong supporter of law enforcement. They are vital to our community, state and country. I can understand why voters would want the J.P. to have a background in law enforcement but please keep in mind all candidates are starting at the same start line. Whomever is elected will have to attend school to learn the laws pertaining to this position, which will be different than their day-to-day operations. Currently, I know 2 of the J.P.’s have no law enforcement experience and they have seen much success. Before Brian Alexander was the J.P. of Pct 4, Joann Osbourn and then Dana Saucier held that office and we all know how well they ran that office.

If you are looking for someone with integrity, honesty, bound by the code of ethics, stable, and unbiased then you need to elect me, Lisa Simpson! Early voting starts Feb 14th thru Feb 25th with Election Day being March 1st.
