HORSESHOE BAY—I can’t speak for everyone in the audience, but as far as I’m concerned, Texas Tech got a dandy in new Head Football Coach, Matt Wells. Wells had that job at Utah State, 2013-’18, before accepting an offer to succeed Kliff Kingsbury. “{Tech} hit a home run with the hire,” said retired coach Dennis Franchione, whose employers included TCU, Alabama and Texas A&M.
