PAINTING FOR HARVEY VICTIMS
Coy Kelso, 13, donated his time and work to help the hurricane victims along the Texas coast. Coy created this painting and auctioned it off online, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Rockport-Fulton Chamber Foundation, a part of the Rockport Chamber of Commerce, for hurricane relief efforts. Coy has only painted a handful of times and always at the instruction of Bob Ross. However, his heart broke for the people caught in the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. Putting brush to canvas for the first time, letting only his imagination guide him, Coy created a scene of peaceful waters. The painting originally sold for $195 on Dec. 3 and was donated back to continue the auction until Sunday, Dec. 10. The painting was then sold for $150, which brought the final total donated to $345. He would like to thank Briley Mitchell at DustDevilDiver Photography for donating the frame and framing the painting.
