Alexus Cotton drives for the hoop in the Mason High Summer League.

MASON — “Same Time, Last Year,” Alexus Cotton and Kayleigh Kirkland knew they were going to play basketball but probably didn’t envision a somewhat quick promotion to the Llano High varsity. Did awfully well: first team, All-District for then-sophomore Kirkland, and second team member, then-freshman Cotton. Here we are in mid-June, and the two are the leaders of the Lady Jackets.
