Honoring a hero
Joe Randerson, 95, of Llano, flies past the Llano Bridge on Thursday morning in a P51 Mustang similar to the one he was shot down in while in World War II.

Joe Randerson served in the United States Air Force in World War II, in the 2nd Fighter Squadron. “I flew P51 Mustangs. Forty-nine missions in all by the time the war ended,” he said. “On my 17th mission, I was shot down over Yugoslavia with burns to 40 percent of my body.” Randerson has not been in a P51 since 1949.
