One Track Minds are Successful
Don’t think we’re making fun of John Keeney. He rolls over in the sand more than most long jumpers. No, it does not add to his total, which was good enough for a gold medal in San Saba.
SAN SABA—The Jackets were again superb—and the girls did well, too, in a nearby story—in the Armadillo Track & Field Meet, March 3, at Mill Pond Park. The boys’ medal collection probably out-weighed a bag-full of discs and puts and maybe a javelin or two, if such an instrument were present at Texas track gatherings. “It’s nice to get wins,” said head coach Craig Slaughter, but, “our goal is to get more seconds, thirds, and fourths {for points},” in the events.
