Black History Month, also known as African American History Month, is an annual celebration to recognize African American achievements and contributions to the United States. The month of February, which coincides with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglass, was chosen to celebrate the many African Americans who have sewn their gifts into the fabric of this country.
