The winner of the Blanco County Friends of the Night Sky (BCFNS) Songwriting Contest, Melanie Van Aken (second from right) receives her $100 prize money check on December 2 from Larry Seiler, BCFNS Treasurer (far right). Van Aken immediately donated her winnings back to the BCFNS to use in night sky preservation efforts.
