On Thursday at approximately 5 p.m., a pickup truck towing a trailer with lawnmowing equipment caught fire at the Valero station on Hwy 281 South in Johnson City. According to witnesses, the fire appeared to begin in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Fearing the gas tank in the rear of the truck would explode, there was a hasty evacuation of El Charro restaurant next door; employees told everyone to get up and get out, not to worry about paying their bills.
