Johnson City helps families trapped in limbo
This family of Central Americans fled violence in their home-town and set out on foot for Texas, where they hope to find asylum. Donations made through the First United Methodist Church here and other Hill Country churches help feed and house hundreds of refugees waiting — often months — for their chance to apply for admission.

The children are bright-eyed and happy; it is the parents who have a continually worried look on their faces. They’re in Piedras Negras, Mexico, across the river from Eagle Pass, Texas, and they’re stuck there for no-one-knows how long.
