Denis and Marilyn Bacque moved from Louisiana to a piece of raw land just north of Johnson City. Shortly after their move they acquired their first animal, a young Canadian Elk they named Dottie. Over the years their exotic animal family grew into what it has become today. The land slowly began to take shape as pastures were developed to comfortably graze the land. Over the years the zoo has grown to over six hundred animals.
