Cookies and Cards for First Responders
There’s a benefit to the job of giving visiting children tours of your job site, as EMS Assistant Chief Ty Grenwelge discovered last week. After showing youngsters from the First United Methodist Church through an ambulance, Lauren Boyer and Hagen Birck presented him cards of thanks for keeping them and their families safe, plus still-warm chocolate chip cookies.

First responders in Johnson City got a treat last week when children from the First United Methodist Church knocked on their doors, bearing hand-made thank-you cards and kid-made chocolate chip cookies. They had learned how the sheriff, police, firefighters, EMS and game warden work together to protect and rescue them and their families, so the kids were there to make sure their protectors knew their work was appreciated.
