Clay Cauble Support Fund receives $1,100

Gary Stites, ACE Hardware General Manager and President of the Horseshoe Bay Business Alliance, Inc. had an idea for this year’s Boogie at the Bay free concert series. “Let’s give away a large coral, not pink, Yeti Cooler for the benefit of Clay Cauble’s medical fund.” So began efforts by the Business Alliance, producers of Boogie each year, to accomplish the goal.

Tickets were available during each of the three weekly concerts at a suggested $10 donation to be eligible to win the Yeti after the concert series concluded. The drawing was held on Monday July 6 at ACE Hardware in Horseshoe Bay. The winning ticket was Sarah Ammons of Austin, drawn by ACE Hardware employee Horace “Bones” Rob under the supervision of ACE GM Gary Stites who reached Ammons to deliver the good news. Since Ammons lives and works in Austin, Gary suggested she pick a date and time to pick up her prize. Saturday July 11 was best for her.

Ammons attended the second concert of 2020 with companion Jon Raymond, also of Austin. They are followers of the band “Rochelle & The Sidewinders.” Due to the virus impacting live indoor performances they were not able to hear their favorite band who often played Austin venues, so when they saw Boogie at the Bay listed on the band’s Calendar of Events they made their way to HSB for the evening of June 24 to listen and made a donation for a ticket to enter the drawing for the Yeti. Ammons said, “We didn’t know anything about Horseshoe Bay but we came out and had so much fun – and then, later, I got the call that I had won the cooler. I was thrilled!”

Residents of HSB and attendees generated $450 for the fund from ticket donations for the Yeti. Ammons and Raymond donated an additional $100 during the July 11th award ceremony at ACE Hardware. ACE Hardware owner Wiley Dunn matched the $550 from Boogie attendees making the total donation to Clay Cauble’s Fund $1,100. President Stites and Boogie at the Bay producer Horseshoe Bay Business Alliance thank everyone who participated in the Boogie series and entered the drawing to help Clay Cauble and his family defray medical costs.

Clay Cauble is fighting stage 4 cancer diagnosed late last year. Clay and his wife Heather own TX Hill Country Concierge, LLC in HSB. Clay served as President of the HSB Business Alliance, Inc. in 2015 and 2016. The ‘Boogie at the Bay’ free concert series was conceived by Clay, and the first concerts were performed in July 2015 and have continued since then every summer. This year’s 2020 series was the 6th Annual Boogie at the Bay series. The current Alliance President, Gary Stites, felt it was especially important this year to recognize Clay’s contribution to the community and to help him with steep medical expenses as he fights the cancer. Contributions to Clay’s Fund can be made at Go Fund Me Clay Cauble.
