HSB Sales Tax Collections Plunge

June sales tax distributions received by the City of Horseshoe Bay dropped 46.21% over the same collection period last year. June sales tax allocations mostly reflect sales made during April. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said widespread social distancing requirements were in place across much of the state in April which lead to the steepest year-over-year decline in allocations since September 2009.

The Comptroller sent $443.6 million in June sales tax allocations to cities across the state, down 11.1% from remittances in June 2019. Year to date remittances to cities were up 0.37% statewide.

HSB received $93,611 in sales tax remittances this month, compared to $174,054 in June 2019. Year to date, HSB collections of $662,578 are down 16.73% over 2019.

With the smallest municipal tax volume in the area, the City of Sunrise Beach received $4,376 in sales tax remittances this month, a 32.7% increase over June 2019 collections, and year to date collections are up 13.39%. Burnet’s monthly allocation was up 12.10%.

Marble Falls collections for the month were 7.25% less than June 2019. Cottonwood Shores posted a 16.09% decrease in its monthly collections compared to June 2019, but its year to date collections are up 1.82%.
