Neighbors, bi-weekly conferences with County, State, and Public Health officials continue. Please be assured of your city’s preparedness. A summary of key notes:
Most recent data shows that we continue to have increased testing in private physician and hospital settings. You still need to go through your doctor if you feel you have symptoms that would warrant testing. In the interim, please take care of yourself and ‘self- quarantine’ from others (family included) until you are sure.
An order has been issued to maintain a 6 foot social distancing. I am so proud of our community as good citizens and caring neighbors in your adherence. I do continue to get reports of a few not taking the order seriously – and want to underscore how essential compliance is for us all. We will not need to move to more drastic levels if all work together.
That said, we do now have at least one confirmed case in Burnet, Llano, and Blanco Country. The Llano County is a Horseshoe Bay resident who has acted in good citizenship. While out of town he learned he had been exposed and upon returning home both he and his wife self- isolated and requested testing. He did develop symptoms (fever, aches) and was confirmed. Fortunately, he has not exposed anyone and we can all celebrate his community thinking.
I want to underscore to our businesses that remain open your valued role in insisting upon 6 foot social distancing and continuance cleaning of any surfaces. Essential businesses are continuing to serve our needs while trying to adapt service practices. Please be patient (and say THANKS).
County leadership is discussing the potential for moving to a ‘lockdown’/shelter in place order (except for “essential businesses”) as neighboring counties have done. The challenge is in identifying essential. For example, if you have a plumbing emergency? They are reviewing how to keep all safe while also supporting quality of life as best as possible. We will post an emergency message once determined and details will be on the city website.
The Resort and other businesses remain open with limited access (take out, social distance activities), but are adhering to restricted safety measures and groupings. We want to support our workers and service providers while using cautious practices – and pending further county action.
City office lobbies are closed but staff remain ready to serve via calls and emails. Be sure you are signed up for CIVIC READY alert notices and access horseshoe-bay-tx.gov for updated CoVid19 info.
A few other news items:
A concrete truck flipped over on Bay West Blvd and traffic was diverted while a crane was secured to recover. Fortunately, the concrete did not cause a spill. Thank you for your patience during this inconvenience.
You may want to grab outdoor gardening items in case of shut down…and use the coming days to get out and breathe in some fresh air. Other activities such as walking your pets, golf (alone in a cart), tennis with social distancing, etc. may help.
Try to find a positive outcome of this experience (aside from the pride of our unified support for each other) and tackle some bucket list items (does cleaning out closets count?) or just good time with your family. I have faith that we will all come out stronger on the other end.
