On August 3, Baylor Scott & White Health will open an acute-care hospital in Marble Falls near the intersection of U.S. 281 and TX 71. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Marble Falls will be a 46-bed hospital with 30 medical-surgical beds, an eight-bed ICU, two operating suites, and eight women's services beds to include three labor/delivery/recovery rooms.
"This is a very special occasion that has been years in the making. We are excited to commemorate the grand opening of our hospital in Marble Falls that will serve the growing health care needs of our patients in the Hill Country," said Baylor Scott & White Hill Country Region President Eric Looper. "We're continuing in our commitment to provide personalized health and wellness through exemplary care, education and research as a Christian ministry of healing."
The current construction will allow for future expansion to include two additional operating suites, four additional ICU beds, and 30 additional general medical-surgical beds. The facility will also have endoscopy suites for gastroenterology and interventional cardiology.
The 188,000 square-foot facility will offer multi-specialty services, including primary care, neurology, urology, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat care), hematology-oncology, dermatology, cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, ophthalmology, and obstetrics and gynecology.
"As a not-for-profit health care organization, we're extremely fortunate to have the community's philanthropic support, which has allowed us to open this facility," continued Looper. "We have relied on the generosity of the community and our donors who have helped ensure the success and sustainability of this project."
Adjacent to the new hospital is the 66,000-square-foot Marble Falls Specialty Clinic which has served as an "anchor" for the anticipated medical center since it opened in the summer of 2013. Construction of the clinic was the first phase and a critical step in recruiting physicians and staff that have provided outpatient care services as the new hospital underwent construction.
Hill Country Region Chief Medical Officer Paul Cook, M.D. said "completing this project allows us to bring a full range of care to residents of the Hill Country. We have recruited more than 30 physicians in anticipation of the hospital opening; while the entire complex will employ nearly 400 staff members."
