The Comal County Fair is Back!

After missing last year, the 2021 Comal County fair and rodeo in New Braunfels is back! This year’s fair takes place from September 18th thru the 26th at the Comal County fairgrounds.

There will be activities and entertainment for folks of all ages.

Fair events kick off with a barbecue cookoff Saturday, September 18th. In addition to the fragrance of delicious barbecue being prepared for judging, there will be a washer pitching contest the night before. Then on Saturday while the smokers and pits are hot, kids will enjoy stick horse racing, a farm race, and mutton bustin’. Youngsters will be showing off their duds in the best dressed western contest, and a rodeo queen will be chosen. And new this year will be a battle of the bands, where area musicians will compete to be a part of the fair’s musical lineup, opening for the Friday night headliner at the fair, Shenandoah.

The Comal County fair queen and her court will be crowned on Sunday.

The fair officially opens Wednesday evening, September 22nd, with Heart of America Shows Carnival offering the thrills and spills of the midway. DJ Stan Elliott will be spinning folks’ favorite tunes in the coma corral, and the food court will be open offering some unique treats.

Live music will be offered in the Comal corral Thursday through Sunday. Thursday night’s featured entertainers will include The County Line Band and Monte Good. Friday night will offer the winner of the Battle of the Bands opening for Shenandoah. Saturday features three groups: Gary Glenn and the 20x band, Cody Wayne, and Coffey Anderson. The Jeremy Richards Band closes out the fair on Sunday evening. All corral entertainment is included in the price of admission to the fair.

PRCA Rodeo performances will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30. There will be an open Bullriding competition Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.

A giant parade will wind through downtown New Braunfels Friday morning beginning at 10 am.

In addition to all the rodeo, music, food and drink, and carnival, enjoy an antique tractor pull, a livestock show, the popular baby barnyard, some very interesting exhibits, and more.

It’s a great place to greet old friends and meet new friends, and it all takes place at the 2021 Comal County Fair and Rodeo September 18-26 at the fairgrounds on Common Street in New Braunfels.
