Kendall County Fair & Rodeo

Did you know the Kendall County Fair has been a part of the community since 1905! This year will mark our 113th annual Fair and Rodeo even Labor Day Weekend. Boy do we have lots to tell you!

The organization is committed to supporting our community and youth in many areas. We offer two scholarship programs annually. We hold several events during the year to help fund these events, scholarships, and property upkeep. We are a 501c-3 non-profit organization. Our volunteer board of directors puts countless hours into making sure this tradition is continued for generations to come.

Speaking of generations to come, this year’s annual KCFA Queen’s Court Scholarship Pageant is scheduled to start off this years Fair on Thursday, August 30th at 6:30pm. I bet you didn’t know our very first queen, Bonnie Lee Kemp won her crown in 1949 based on how many pennies were put into a jar at one of the community businesses to vote for her. We don’t use pennies anymore, but these young ladies provide references, are interviewed privately and on stage during the event, among other things. It’s an exciting night for everyone who attends and is free to the public. It’s a fabulous event to get the annual fair event started!

Last year, KC Cowboy became our KCFA mascot who brings smiles to both young and old. This year, he has expanded his smile search and will be hosting a new event on Friday morning before we open the fair to the public. KC and the KCFA directors will open the gates to host an exclusive group of special needs children of Kendall County. These children will experience everything from a special carnival and animal interactions to Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall tours, a special showing of this year’s Lumberjack Show, and a small rodeo type experience tailored just for them. These children will end their day under our pavilion with fun, games, country music and a cowboy lunch.

Friday, August 31st at 5pm, we officially open the gates and kick off the 113th Kendall County Fair & Rodeo! On Friday, we begin with opening the Exhibit Hall to the public to view and share all the handmade items, art, canning, baking, and much more, just like when our community event started in 1905! The Mercantile in the New Hall will be open with TONS of fabulous vendors selling amazing merchandise! At 6:30pm the Lumberjack Show starts behind the Pavilion. At 7pm, Dixie Land Delight is our first entertainer on stage followed by The SPAZMATICS at 10pm! The Lester Meyer Rodeo starts with the pre-show Mutton Busting at 7:30pm followed by the official rodeo start at 8pm.

Saturday morning, September 1st, in downtown Boerne, the Fair parade begins at 10am! It runs on Main street from the fire station down to River Road. If you haven’t been to one of our fair parades, you should come out and see the numerous spectacular floats that participate.

While the parade is starting in downtown, back at the fairgrounds, the annual Livestock Lamb & Goat show kicks off under the blue livestock barn at 10am as well! These young men and women put so much hard work into raising their animals all year long. Come see them at their finest! The Exhibit Hall, Carnival, Mercantile in the New Hall with vendors and all outdoor vendors also open at 10am!

On Saturday and Sunday, after lunch we’ve got some great afternoon entertainment lined up. The Mercantile (New Hall) and the Pavilion will have entertainers on both stages such as magicians, variety of music and family entertainment all afternoon. The exhibit hall is having its annual egg tossing contest and let’s not forget the amazing Apple Pie Contest on Sunday! There are 3 showings each day for the Lumberjack show, the first starting at 1:30pm. Saturday’s evening entertainment starts at 7pm under the Pavilion with Cody Wayne, followed by Bart Crow at 11pm. The Lester Meyer Rodeo starts with the pre-show Mutton Busting at 7:30pm followed by the official rodeo start at 8pm.

Sunday, the Livestock show starts at 10am with the Poultry, Heifer and Steer show. Afternoon entertainment, Exhibit hall, carnival and vendors are all open by noon. Sunday’s evening entertainment starts at 8pm with Cody Wayne followed by Holly Tucker at 11pm. The Lester Meyer Rodeo Bull Riding starts with the pre-show Mutton Busting at 7:30pm followed by the official bull riding start at 8pm.

This year has something for everyone! Which is why we will also be selling a Weekend Pass!!! You can purchase the weekend pass prior to the fair.
