Lampasas annual Spring Ho Festival offers a full week of activities that are guaranteed to bring excitement to thousands of visitors. The 47th annual Spring Ho will follow the theme of “Let the Good Times Roll”. The festival name celebrates the importance of the natural springs and the history of Lampasas. “Spring Ho” might have been shouted when the settlers first arrived to the mineral springs that make up Lampasas.
Lampasas Spring Ho Festival will open on Monday, July 9 with a beauty pageant, that will crown the festival queen.. Tuesday will be a Hayloft party and Wednesday Kid Fish in the park, Gospel Night in the park, and will conclude with a firework show. Thursday will be a dance contest and the kickoff of the carnival. Friday will open with a Diaper Derby, Pet Parade, Kids Day in the park, along with vendors and music along the banks of Sulphur Creek. Also Friday will include the arrival of the barbeque cook off teams, for the ever popular Lampasas Spring Ho Barbecue Cook off contest. Friday night will conclude with a Street dance featuring Johnny Rodriquez and Janie Fricke.
Saturday morning will kick off early with one of the most difficult 10K, 5K and 1 mile runs. Then at 11 the 47th annual Spring Ho parade will kick off with over 100 participants. Marching bands, floats, horseback riders, big jeeps and truck, antique cars, class reunion floats, contest winners from throughout the week will gather to “Let the Good Times Roll”. After the parade there will be water sport activities, kayaking in the park, vendor shopping and barbecue judging. Softball tournament and carnival will be going on at the 580 Sports complex. The festival will conclude with a concert Saturday night featuring Koe Wetzel and Flatland Cavalry.
