Summer is here, head for the water. One of the best places to cool off, enjoy a relaxing float on the Guadalupe River, grab a bite to eat or spend the night is at Mountain Breeze, located on River Road in New Braunfels. For the past 31 years, Paul Rich has been providing the perfect place to be on river time. Paul proudly says, “We’re a complete river outfitter as well as a year round campground with tent sites, RV sites with water and electric and small rustic cabins.”
Whether you want to tube, kayak, swim, camp, fish, listen to some of the best music around or just enjoy the festive party atmosphere, Mountain Breeze will make it happen for you. Families come back year after year and Paul is now seeing third generations.
In addition to the Summer water activities, the Guadalupe is one of the cleanest rivers in Texas and one of the best places to catch rainbow trout from December to April. With the Guadalupe River flow being released from the bottom of Canyon Lake, the water is cold. The first 15 miles of the Guadalupe River below the dam is the trout fishing area, and is the only year round trout fishery in Texas. Also, the southern most point in the United States that trout live year round. Trout stocking is done by TPWD and Guadalupe chapter of Trouts Unlimited. There are also several species of bass, catfish and perch in the river. Just make sure you have a valid Texas state fishing license.
Mountain Breeze has a live band every Saturday night in the summer; you can even see The Voice runner up Jake Worthington on September 23rd. Other events are also hosted at Mountain Breeze throughout the year and it’s the perfect venue for large group events.
The grill, open on the weekends through the summer, serves a variety of items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The store, across from the grill, sells various items related to camping and water recreation as well as t-shirts and koozies.
