Stonewall, Texas - Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site will be hosting the annual fishing clinic June 4th, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. The event will be held on the banks of the beautiful Pedernales River where Lyndon B. Johnson himself would fish. The fishing day event is located within LBJ State Park and Historic Site at the Group Picnic area on Ranch Road 1. This facility is located adjacent (just east) of the LBJ State Park Dining Hall. Free Fishing in State Parks is designed to encourage more people to get out and enjoy the great sport of fishing. Fishing has long been one of the most popular activities in the U.S., and it is our hope that everyone will want to share in the countless memories that can be created out on the water.
The first Saturday in June of each year is designated as the annual “Free Fishing Day” and no person is required to process a fishing license or stamp endorsement, while fishing on that day on any public waters. No fishing license or stamp endorsements are required regardless of age, while fishing from the banks in a State Park or in waters completely enclosed by a State Park. Parents bring your children and enjoy a great relaxing and fun morning of fishing.
A short seminar on fishing will be presented. Fishing equipment and worms will be provided, or you may bring your own equipment and favorite bait.

So, mark Saturday, June 4th on your calendar and spend the day at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site. Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch and enjoy visiting other areas of the park. Have fun walking the nature trails to see the wildflowers and wildlife; visit the presidential exhibits and see the historical film; and stop at the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm or take the self-guided tour to the LBJ Ranch and Texas Whitehouse.
