The Adult Soapbox Derby Returns to the Streets of Historic Downtown Marble Falls Texas.
The 8th Annual Marble Falls Soapbox Classic will take place June 16-18, 2017. The historic downtown district of Marble Falls will be filled with racing, live music, vendors and excitement!
“We are thrilled about the changes made to the Derby event last year.” said event producer, Shannon Heep. “We have added more racing with new divisions and brackets.”
Racing isn’t the only thing bigger this year. The featured attraction among food vendors will be an 8 Foot Round Pizza …the World Record Holder for the Biggest Pizza! Pizza preparation and cooking begins at 11am Saturday with dough throwing! Pizza will be served approximately 1pm, and sold at just $3 slice.
“The purpose of this event is simple, said Heep, to provide our community, its families and visitors with a weekend filled with fun, smiles, laughter and the excitement of racing”. Now in its eighth year, this event has become a Father’s Day weekend tradition for the Texas Hill Country. We are expecting over 40 derby cars, over 60 racers and hundreds of spectators!
Do not confuse this event with the youth soapbox derby racing than began in the 1930’s. This is an ADULT amateur racing event. Individuals, families, social groups and business’ race cars that they have built themselves. Racing rules and guidelines are available on the event website.
The Marble Falls Soapbox Classic is produced by the National Adult Soapbox Derby Association; a Marble Falls sports association. Sponsorship, volunteer and racing information is available on the event website. www.AdultSoapboxDerby.com, [email protected] or call Shannon at (830)385-9289.
