BLANCO SPONSORS FREE CONCERTS IN BINDSEIL PARK

The City of Blanco and its Arts in the Park committee announce the Fall series of entertainers booked for free concerts in the City’s idyllic Bindseil Park, off the historical square.  The Spring series in April was a resounding success with differing musical genres playing each week.  The Independence weekend celebration culminated the series with a well-attended street dance on the Old Courthouse Square where “kids” from eight to eighty danced to the sounds of the ‘50s group, Little Beverly and the Shades.

Continuing to offer different musical genres for the Fall series, the city has contracted the following entertainers for Sundays (and one Saturday) in November.

November 6: The Lone Star Swing Band featuring Paul Glasse (The Hill country’s finest Western Swing Band!)

November 13: Austin Banjo Society and In-a-Jam (Bluegrass over the top!)

November 20: Nate Jacobson and his band Crooked Bow (opening act) followed by the Austin Cajun Aces featuring Charles Thibadeaux

November 26: Art Walk with accompaniment by Larry Natwick (local Jazz Pianist) and Violet Crown Flute Choir

Each concert will begin at 2 p.m. and last for 2 hours.

On Saturday, November 26, the city and Arts in the Park committee will host an Art Walk around the Old Courthouse Square featuring various local artists demonstrating and exhibiting their art.  The artists will not only be exhibiting but their art will also be for sale.  Among the work exhibited will be paintings in different media, woodworking, pottery, jewelry and more!  Accompanying the artists as background musicians will be Larry Natwick, noted local Jazz pianist, playing from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. followed by the Austin Flute Choir from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Save your Sunday afternoons in November and come to Blanco for FREE CONCERTS with great musical entertainers. Grab a bite to eat at one of Blanco’s local restaurants or bring a picnic basket.  Don’t forget to bring your blanket or lawn chairs also. In case of bad weather, the Old 300 BBQ restaurant, on the courthouse square, has graciously offered their ‘Back Forty’ venue as back-up.
