Local historian gets ready to publish fifth book about Texans during the Civil War

It was arguably America’s most tragic war--pitting countrymen against each other--and it all happened just a few generations ago. One Blanco man, who is a National Park Ranger, spends his downtime researching Texas during Civil War so that he can bring history back to life with his books. “My books are about the soldiers’ memories of battles and camp-life; Each soldier in my books has written a fascinating account of the battles they were in,” said author Joe Owen.
