JUNIOR OLYMPICS QUALIFIERS
Three track athletes from the Blanco Track Club have qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Humble this week. Pictured in the front, Rhyder Nelson, qualified in two events, turbo javelin and high jump. Sidney Johnson, pictured on the left in the back row, and Caroline Seymour, right, both qualified in the javelin. Cameron Nelson, middle, coaches the Blanco Track Club members. Practice for the club began in March. District was held in San Antonio with the athletes advancing to Region, also in San Antonio, at Judson High School in Converse in June. The Junior Olympic events started Saturday, July 31 and will conclude Saturday, August 7 at Humble High School. This fall, Johnson will be a freshman at BHS, while Seymour will be an eighth grade student and Nelson will be a seventh grade student at BMS.
