2 file for mayor, five to run for city council
Two candidates will vie to be Blanco mayor and five are seeking to be on the Blanco city council in the May 1 municipal election. The candidates for mayor are Rachel Lumpee and Phillip Wayne Thompson. The position has been vacant since Martha Herden resigned in April 2020. Martin Sauceda, Place 3 city councilman, has served in that role as mayor pro-tem since Herden’s resignation. Five are running for two seats on the city council.
