The Blanco volleyball team started District 3A-25 matches with two shutout wins last week.
The Lady Panthers opened league play Tuesday, Sept. 22 with a win over the Comfort Deer, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-11. They continued their stellar play Friday by defeating the Lago Vista Lady Vikings 25-18, 25-12 and 25-18. The Lady Panthers are 13-6 on the season and 2-0 in district play.
In the game against Lago Vista, Presley Young led the team with 15 kills, five digs and one block. Emilee LaRue smacked 12 kills and made 10 digs. Elin Kaiser tallied eight kills, one ace, 11 digs and two blocks. Olivia Atchley set the ball to the hitters 33 times. Atchley added two kills, one ace and six digs. Jaycie Gloor, Emma Srackangast and Lily Porter each served one ace. Gloor made 11 digs and two assists. Casey Eskew and Raylee Faris each hit two blocks.
Against Comfort, LaRue hit 14 kills, served one ace, made two digs and had one block. Young slammed nine kills, five aces and one block. Young also had six digs. Carly Romero scored on four kills. Kaiser hit four kills, four aces, one block and made three digs. Porter served one ace. Middle blockers, Faris and Eskew, each hit one block.
The junior varsity and freshman teams each won their respective district games, too.
The Lady Panthers made the road trip to Ingram Tuesday, Sept. 29 to take on the state-ranked Warriors. Ingram is ranked number one in Class 3A in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Poll. The Warriors were 15-0 on the season and 1-0 in district before the match with the Lady Panthers.
Blanco has an open date Friday, Oct. 2, and then resumes district play Tuesday, Oct. 6 with a home game against the Llano Lady Jackets. The freshman team plays at 5 p.m., followed by the junior varsity at 6 p.m. The varsity game starts at 7 p.m.
